Lifeblood

Jelena was commissioned by Ample Projects, under the direction of Nicholas Tory, to work on 20 minute 2D animated film Lifeblood (2021).

Jelena worked closely with Tory and his team in the design and animation of key 2D animation sequences for the film. Her contributions include underwater and elemental animation in river sequences, 2D frame-by-frame animation of the Egret and the design and animation of Indigenous characters in the stolen generation sequences (as well as other characters throughout the film).

"Lifeblood is a film about the intersection of place, history, and our identity. Who are we as Australians? We are disconnected from our true cultural identity. We don’t understand our environment, and therefore we don’t know how to protect the delicate equilibriums that have existed for millions of years on our planet." - Nicholas Tory

The film is a beautiful, delicately animated achievement that champions the breathtaking landscape of rural Australia.

Lifeblood was envisioned and designed by Nicholas Tory for permanent display in the Back O' Bourke Exhibition Centre and is currently making rounds in the festival circuit. It will become available to the public for release in the future.
